Could someone clarify what a ′FMG Resistor′ is? I am not familiar with the type and cannot seem to find any information on it.
What would be the best mapping between the regular FIDES 2009 resistors and this type?
What would be the best mapping between the regular FIDES 2009 resistors and this type?
Dear,
Sorry, this is a weakness in the english translation. FMG stand for "Feuille Metallique Gravée" in the French text. In the english version these resistors are refered as "high stability bulk metal foil precision resistors".
Example of datasheet : http://www.vishay.com/docs/63001/s.pdf
Please give your feed back about the FIDES part count! As this method is new we have had few feed back until now.
All the best with FIDES!

The FIDES parts count methods are very nice. Having all data values in the big tables makes it very easy to use.
There are however a couple terminology inconsistencies with the parts count methods and the regular FIDES models. In order to upgrade our parts count work to the full FIDES model we need a constant mapping of part models. The FMG issue is the only one we could not assume a mapping for, but here is the list of inconsistence names that we have assumed.
Parts Count Full FIDES
Photodiode Optocoupler with photodiode
Phototransistor Optocoupler with phototransistor
Switching Power Supply Voltage Converter - AC/DC
The switch section is very confusing. As far as we could tell it is intended to be all switch types divided into two groups - resistive load and non resistive load. Then each of those groups is split into 3 lines based off of how many pins the switch has. Having the switch types and the number of pins in the same column does not make sense. Either the switch type selects the row, or the number of pins.
I realize the integrated circuit section had to be abbreviated to fit into the table, but could you check our grouping of those types
Digital integrated circuit - Digital circuit (MOS, Bipole, BiCMOS)
Memory integrated circuit - Flash, EEPROM, EPROM, SRAM, DRAM
Micro*, DSP, simple ASIC - Microprocessor, Microcontroller, DSP, Simple ASIC
Analog, Mixed, FPGA, CPLD, complex - FPGA, CPLD, FPGA Antifuse, PAL , Analog and Hybrid circuit (MOS, Bipole, BiCMOS) , Complex ASIC
Again, the parts count models are great; there were just these minor issues we came across.
Dear,
Thank you for your feedback. This can easily be corrected in a next issue of the document. Some other minor changes like those would probably be introduced in the document before submission for standardisation, so it could be done in a next future.
