Hi,
Sorry to bother you. I was just wondering if anyone would happen to have a worked example please? I am trying to detemine the life of a dry Tantalum capacitor, with axial metal packaging, in alignment with the vip helicopter life profile. Using the necessary equations, and building a Matlab model, I am yielding a FIT of 1.736, but commercial software using the same inputs is yielding a FIT of approximately 8. The FIDES guide is really good, but it dosent actually show a worked example to calculate a FIT, so I was just wondering if anyone else would have one please? P.S I have also tried the excel files from the website (under the downlads tab), but sadly they dont work.
Many Thanks
Bob
Dear Bob,
For a worked example to calculate a FIT with FIDES 2009, you need to download the Fides ExperTool portable version here and the example file here.
After unzipping the tool, you can launch it with the FIDES_ExperTool_EN.bat and in the gui you can browse your disk to find the example file.
The user guide of the tool is available by selecting fides on the top left corner of the GUI and choose Help.
Please send feedback in any case you success or fail in your computation

Dear Tourtelier_D,
Thank you ever so much for the advice there. I am pleased to say that I downloaded the tool, and I will give it a go, and see if I can replicate some result from a paper, to try it out.
Many Thanks
Bob
Thank you for the example file it was so required but the final failure rate is not written in this
Hi Karishma,
In order to get the results you need to compute the example file.
Open the FIDES_ExperTool_EN.bat and in the gui you can browse your disk to find the example file and after click on calculate.
The Java engine import/compute/export the data and generate a new folder next to your example file to put the the example file filled with the results and an XML detailled file.
Hope it will help you
